Sponsored by Shenzhen Municipal Government and established in April 1988, Shenzhen Hazardous Waste Treatment Station(SZHWTS) is the first institution specializing in treatment and disposal of hazardous wastes in China, engaged in the mission for the collection, transport, general use and safe disposal of industrial and hazardous wastes of the whole city, as well as the technology consultation, engineering service, environmental protection facilities operating services for the wasted gas, waste water and industrial waste contracted with the enterprises in other regions.

             At present, there are 33 categories of dangerous wastes accepted and disposed by the SHWTS, with 350,000 tons of annual capacity for accepting and disposing of the wastes as well as the capacity of general use. It was elected as one of the first group of organizations with the operating certificate for environmental productive facilities of the State in 1999 and passed the certification and auditing of ISO14000 Environmental management System in the same year. In 2003, it was entitled the Key Enterprise in China Environmental Protection Industry and the Hi-Tech Enterprise in Shenzhen. In 2005, awarded the Cleaning Production enterprise of Guangdong Province. 　

　　 For more than 20 years, the SHWTS lives up to its principle of reducing the wastes, making the wastes the useful resources and turning the wastes harmless , takes the road of accelerating the development of environmental protection industry with science and technology for better social benefit, environmental benefit and economic benefit so as to make contribution to improve and maintain the environmental quality of Shenzhen City. And it has carved out a developing path complying to the reality in Shenzhen, namely controlling wastes with the wastes, turn waste into wealth, general use and safe disposal.
